Software Engineer (PHP/LAMP) at GameFly, LA

Job Responsibilities

• Work with Product Managers and Sr. Software Engineers to extend and maintain existing products
• Must be able to work in an ever changing, fast paced environment and manage multiple developmental tasks at once
• Must possess a working knowledge of a set range of technologies, software development methodologies, architectures (network, services, databases)
• Must have proven experience working within a team environment supporting and developing diverse products
• Serve as a member of the Engineering team to build, modify and maintain products within the GameFly software catalogue
• Collaborate with other members of the engineering team to develop scalable and reliable software solutions
• Develop detailed test plans based on functional and technical specifications
• Assist with requirements design, testing, and system documentation
• Support QA resources in developing test plans and test scripts
• Provide post-implementation and on-going production support as an on-call programmer when necessary

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of PHP/LAMP development experience building complex, scalable Web applications
• Strong Object Oriented PHP coding skills
• Experience with MVC frameworks including Zend, CakePHP, CodeIgniter
• Solid knowledge of Javascript, CSS, HTML, XML, etc.; JQuery, Node.js experience a plus
• Experience developing REST-based APIs
• Adept at SVN, code versioning and deployment
• Strong knowledge of Linux, MySQL and Apache
• Experience with online credit card processing
• Cloud Management/Virtualization (i.e. Amazon EC2 and S3) experience a plus
• Knowledge of Python and event-driven Python Web frameworks a plus
• Knowledge of PERL a plus
• Experience with video encoding, FFMPEG in particular, a plus
• Experience in high-throughput real-time business systems development spanning multiple application tiers a plus
• Ability to think creatively and solve complex technical problems
• Willingness to participate in after-hours and on-call support
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
